Cost Controller

Cost Controller – Project Role

(Full time, fixed term 3 months or associated length of time for part time, fixed term)

About Mosaic

Mosaic is a contemporary and innovative disability service provider going through a significant period of growth and change. The new Executive Team is implementing many new initiatives and developing the organisation further. We are now looking for highly motivated Cost Controller to join our expanding and diverse team.

About the Role

The Cost Controller position is to maintain an active role in cost management and inventory controls and encompasses the cost of new technology and how it affects the value of existing inventory and labour. This role covers Cost Control Services including but not limited to those of cost estimating, budget control, cost forecasting, cost reporting and cost risk analysis. The role is responsible for controlling total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all expenditures are captured and properly recorded.

Some of the duties and responsibilities include

  • Review all current supplier contracts, negotiate new supplier agreements and get the absolute best price.
  • Set up all purchasing policies and processes.
  • Deploy the purchasing module of our finance system (NAV).
  • Create efficient inventory recording mechanisms, including capability to report and forecasting inventory levels.
  • Set up an efficient ordering and delivery process for all goods.
  • IT and Telephone costs will be a large focus of the role.

About You

Specific criteria for the role includes the following:-

  • A self-starter with good negotiation skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Advanced accountancy skills including data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good organisation and computer skills with the capability of establish and maintain your own systems and process for the role (including preferred supplier lists, pricing etc.).
  • Be client focused, professional, independent, highly motivated and resilient.

Scheduler

Permanent Position – Full time 76 hours per fortnight Monday – Friday

Staggered start and finish times between 7 am and 7 pm on alternating weeks.

Are you proactive and persistent?  Are you organised and good at multi-tasking?  If so this may be the job for you.

This is a fast paced role that requires a lot of energy and strong communication skills. The nature of this role means that no day is ever the same and therefore diligence, focus and motivation and ability to multi-task are critical for success.

You will:

  • Maintain staff rosters based on clients’ needs, employee contractual requirements and working within SCHADS award (detail knowledge of SCAHDS award is required).
  • Allocate staff to shifts, ensuring appropriate match between staff, clients, skill requirements and availability.
  • Manage staff schedules to ensure staff training and leave requirements are backfilled in advance.
  • Analyse rosters and schedule planning to provide advice to management.
  • Provide reports to Executive Manager Services relating to schedule performance and planning in advance for public holidays.
  • Manage a relief pool of staff that can provide leave cover and plan in advance where possible to replace staff including backfilling for training.
  • Be able to fill shifts at short notice with Mosaic’s casual pool.
  • Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.

Area Manager

About the Role

The Area Manager position is a great opportunity for someone wanting to contribute to the strategic direction and operation of the organisation and also suitable for people wanting a career change such as moving into the not-for-profit disability sector.

The role is challenging, fast paced and at times unpredictable. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of person-centred service focused on “Quality of Life”, leading teams as a cohesive unit, financial viability of service provision and compliance with all other relevant standards, legislation and regulations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of efficient and effective service to our clients through developing and implementing service standards
  • Ensure our clients and their families/carers are appropriately supported in the areas of daily activities of life, community participation and inclusion.
  • Ensure goals and aspirations are met through effective individual plan implementation and support processes, particularly for people with a variety of complex requirements.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and standards are followed and maintained
  • Oversee workflows and ensure appropriate use of resources
  • Manage all aspects of self-leadership and leadership of others including performance development, performance management and disciplinary action.
  • Participate in recruitment, induction and on-boarding of new staff.
  • Ensure the staff are complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Manage budget and the profit and loss in conjunction with the Executive Manager Services.
  • Work closely with Positive Behaviour Advisors
  • Assist Executive Management with complaints and investigations.
  • Operationalise and report on strategic plan developed by the Executive Team.

About You

We are looking for professionals that have the following experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in any of the following disciplines: – Social Science, Psychology, Nursing, Human Resources and Occupational Therapy.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a management role.
  • Knowledge of human rights based approaches in disability.
  • Considerable experience in managing and developing high performing, outcomes focused teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Considerable analytical, conceptual and report writing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of changes in the sector particularly with the introduction of NDIS
  • Knowledge of the National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Demonstrated high level of commitment to individualised, person-centred service delivery.
